Meisen is a \"flat silk weave\" as it is generally called in Japanese (\"hiraori\").
They were very popular for daily wear and street clothes for women from Taisho(1912-1923) to early Showa(1923~1964) periods.
This fabric is woven by slightly shifting the colors of the weft threads and the warp threads on purpose,
making the colors look softer because the boundaries are a bit fuzzy.
This is the special charm of Meisen, a beloved fabric of Taisho period women.
