Antique Australian Gentleman's Solid Gold Spectacles Glasses c1900:
$133

A terrific pair of vintage spectacles. Classic round framed eyewear fashionable in the Edwardian era ca 1900s. A semi opaque casein or resin forms the upper and lower frames with the 'middle' section including the bridge and side arms etc are all manufactured in solid gold. An Australian goldsmiths hallmark inside the bridge appears to suggest 18 Carat 9a very high grade of gold purity) however the mark is worn and rubbed so I can't be categorically sure. The glasses are in excellent vintage condition and are fitted with their original fairly mild prescription lenses. They come in an old (worn) case with an early Opticians card from Melbourne Australia. The frames are approx 115mm wide and each eyepiece approx 42mm in diameter. Weight of glasses 17.5 Grams In the case 81 Grams.
