“BULL” (originally the “APAVA”) was custom-built in 1969 by Rybovich& Sons Boat Works in West Palm Beach Florida. The 56-foot custombuilt sportfishing boat is Rybovich Hull #71, with only 79 boats builtby Tommy Rybovich in total. The gentleman who originallycommissioned the boat was a paraplegic, so the boat was speciallyoutfitted so the owner could fully enjoy time on the water.Rybovich innovations included an elevator to lift the owner up to theflying bridge. An escalator was installed in the main salon toprovide mobility below.Although Madoff had the escalator removed, he kept the elevator place.As BULL, the boat received lavish new upgrades, such as the customstainless steel galley. The boat was lovingly cared for and was keptdocked behind the Madoff’s estate in Palm Beach. The Madoff’s livednext door to Pat’s uncle, Johnny Rybovich. While chatting with Pataboard BULL, Bernie and Ruth shared stories of how the two couplesenjoyed grilling fish on the barbeque while Johnny futzed around on theboat. Madoff and his wife Ruth were true lovers of Rybovich and keptthe boat in meticulous Bristol condition for over 30 years. ABOUT THE BOOK
