Couroc of Monterey Round Serving Tray and Cheeseboard Tray
Serving tray measures 13 7/8 Inches in Diameter
Cheeseboard tray measures 15.5\" X 10 3/4\"
The Couroc design is hand inlaid by master craftsman using real wood (maple)and coins and ceramic chips laid in a terrazzo fashion, permanently fused into satin black phenolic.
The cheeseboard tray has a raised hardwood cutting surface of New England Mapleand measures 7\" X 5.5\".
These pieces feature a tree with terrazzo leaves and coin \"Fruit\"
The phenolic of both boards show nominal surface wear and look lightly used.Maple cutting board shows no signs of use.
\"Couroc serving pieces are cherished gifts because of their variety and beauty in design. Hand inlaid by master craftsmen, shells, coins, woods and metals are fused into Couroc\'s famous satin black material (phenolic) which is impervious to alcohol, boiling water and cigarette burns.\"
Couroc was started in 1948 in Monterey, CA by husband and wife Guthrie Courvoisier and Moira Wallace. Courvoisier developed a secret formula for phenolic resin which was used to make the black plastic trays. The company continued until the early \'90\'s.
