He set the transcontinental air speed record, flying from Glendale, California, to Valley Stream, New York. He completed the coast-to-coast flight in an elapsed time of 12 hours, 25 minutes, and 3 seconds beating Charles Lindbergh\'s previous transcontinental record by over two hours.
