Original 1869 handwritten letter signed and dated by L. L. Williams, Roseburg Land Office clerk (he was also County Clerk of Douglas County and had been Clerk of Umpqua Couty). The letter is addressed to Edward Hawkins and explains disputed land claims in Township 15S Range 3 W east of Harrisburg, Oregon. Conflicting claims were posted by W. H. Patton, C.
