1959 Davy Jones Divers Barge Avalon Catalina Island CA Postcard – Undersea: $14.99
This vibrant vintage postcard showcases the famous \"Davy Jones\" divers\' barge at Avalon, Catalina Island, California. The barge was a popular attraction where skin divers performed beneath glass-bottom boats, feeding fish and entertaining visitors with aquabatics using aqualung and compressed air tanks. The postcard features bright lithographic printing capturing the lively underwater scene visible through the barge\'s large glass windows, set against the deep blue waters and iconic Catalina Island backdrop.
Produced by the renowned H.S. Crocker Co., Inc. of Los Angeles and published by Golden West Color Card Co., this standard-sized (5.5 x 3.5 inches) postcard is a fine example of mid-20th century printed lithographs. The card is dated MCMLIX (1959) and credits Geo. E. Watson as the color photographer, adding to its authenticity and collectible value. Its historical and geographical significance makes it a great addition for collectors of California or coastal Americana postcards.
