Beautiful antique American tintype portrait of a young girl, believed to date to approximately 1862–1865. A wonderful early photographic portrait with a particularly charming and elaborate studio setting.
The young girl is beautifully dressed in a full period dress with a fitted jacket/bodice, characteristic of early-to-mid 1860s fashion. Her hairstyle, clothing, and formal pose all give the photograph a wonderful Civil War-era appearance.
She is seated beside an especially attractive upholstered studio bench or photographic prop, with decorative fringe and detailing. The combination of the elaborate clothing and ornate studio furniture makes this a particularly appealing example of an early American tintype.
