Made in 1927-1932 by Westclox in Lasalle, IL., this is the Big Ben Style 2 DeLuxe in nickel finish. While the DeLuxe was made after 1929, it no longer carried the \"DeLuxe\" designation on the dial. This clock has a Westclox sales number of 220, factory number 48-A with base ID of \"A.\"
Featuring a 32-hour winder, this clock is fully functional! The alarm works properly and timekeeping is very accurate. Alarm and time set hands are synced. Alarm/Time springs wind easily and hands turn freely. The gold-colored face is in very good condition showing no signs of fading, dusting or the omnipresent oil staining. The glass is free from chips, cracks and divots. The case has no dents or detectable rust. The base has some crumbling and deterioration (repairs) as is common with virtually all of these models. (The bases were made out of cheaper \"pot metal\" which was an amalgamation of less expensive and less durable metals.)
Notice: I am not an horologist so my description is based on my experience and observation. I have described this timepiece to the best of my knowledge. This description, coupled with the photographs, should accurately reflect this item’s condition. And, while this timepiece is listed as working, the same was observed during a minimum of a 72-hour test period. Most timepieces are observed for more than a week before I list them in working condition. This test, however, is no guarantee the unit will continue working far into the future.
