ANTIQUE 19th C BOTANICAL STUDY SHEETS HERBARIUM PRESSED LEAVES 12-SET
EDUCATIONAL AMERICANA: SOUTHWORTH EMBOSSED PAPER | HANDWRITTEN LATIN
Up for sale is a remarkably rare, complete, and consecutive antique set of twelve (12) late 19th-century botanical herbarium study sheets. Sourced directly from an elite historical ephemera estate, this 100% original collection reflects the formal scientific instructional methodologies utilized in American higher education during the post-Civil War land-grant college era.
Each individual sheet showcases an original, beautifully preserved mounted pressed botanical specimen accompanied by highly precise, elegant period fountain pen handwritten Latin annotations describing specific leaf morphology (including cordate, pinnate, elliptical, acuminate, and more). Every page is sequentially numbered (No. 1 through No. 12) and hand-initialed by the historic student or academic archivist, "E.D.S."

This serves as an absolute guarantee of production on high-grade, premium academic stationery from the historic Southworth Paper Company (established 1839 in Mittineague, Massachusetts) struck on their heavy quarto writing stock.
