Exquisite Antique French Limoges Hand-Painted Porcelain Portrait Pitcher.
A stunning late 19th to early 20th-century antique Limoges porcelain pitcher, produced by A. Martin & Co. (Martin Frères) of Limoges, France.
This piece features exceptional craftsmanship with a deep olive green ground adorned with a beautifully detailed Art Nouveau portrait medallions of a maidens on two sides and soft floral reserves on the panels. The body is heavily decorated with raised white and gold enameling (jeweled beadwork) forming starbursts and lace-like borders. It is finished with a heavily gilded, sculpted organic leaf handle and a wavy scalloped rim.
Markings:
Underside: Stamped in green with the twin-vase factory mark for A. Martin & Co. (A. MARTIN / LIMOGES / FRANCE).
Studio / Artist Signature: Hand-inscribed "E.S. Hyde" alongside pattern/inventory number "P.1404".
Condition:
Overall: Excellent antique condition with no chips, cracks, or structural repairs observed.
Decoration & Gilt: Painting remains vibrant and detailed. Minor, light age-appropriate surface wear/rubbing to the gold gilding on high-touch points (handle and upper rim) as expected for a piece of this age.
