Beautiful antique gilded composition‑ornament frame dating to the late Victorian / early Art Nouveau period (c.1890–1915). This piece features its original gold finish, richly detailed scroll‑and‑roundel ornamentation, and no missing compo, which is extremely rare for a frame of this age.
The craftsmanship is classic turn‑of‑the‑century: molded gesso/compo over wood, red bole beneath the gilding, and authentic age patina throughout. The frame is structurally sound with tight corners and only minor expected wear on the back where the original hanging wire once sat.
