For your consideration is a museum-quality antique Belle Époque period miniature portrait powder compact, expertly handcrafted by a premier Italian silversmith bearing the elusive \"MC\" maker\'s hallmark.
Weighing a very heavy and substantial 129.5 grams, the square case features a magnificent front cover showcasing fine, openwork reticulated .800 silver scrolling vines overlaid across a shimmering gold-gilt background plate. At the center rests an oval bezel housing an exquisite, original hand-painted miniature portrait depicting a regal court lady, crisply hand-signed \"RR\" by the artist on the right margin. The reverse side features breathtaking, deeply chased floral scrolls centered by a blooming rosette medallion.
Opening the lid reveals an original interior beveled mirror framed within a silver bezel stamped with the authentic \"MC\" cartouche and \"800\" purity standards stamp. The lower powder well beautifully retains its original vintage mesh sifter screen and powder puff.
