Which is actually pretty damn clever.
This lot includes:
• Brooklyn Bridge – Looking from Brooklyn Toward Old New York
Underwood & Underwood. Great early New York view with the Brooklyn Bridge dominating the foreground and old Manhattan beyond it.
• Descending into Grand View Trail, Grand Canyon of Arizona
Underwood & Underwood. People and pack animals working their way down a steep Grand Canyon trail, because apparently vacations used to involve considerably more opportunities to die.
• From Inspiration Point Through Yosemite Valley
Underwood & Underwood. Classic Yosemite scenery with the original descriptive information on the reverse.
• Beautiful Mirror Lake, Yosemite Valley, California
Keystone View Company. Marked Copyright 1899 by B. L. Singley.
Several cards retain little old collection/category tabs, including one marked “(2) Bridges.” I left them exactly where they are because they've managed to survive there for more than a century and I see no reason to suddenly start making executive decisions on their behalf.
These show age, toning, surface wear, discoloration and other evidence of having existed since roughly the administration of William McKinley. Please examine all photographs closely for condition.
They are original period stereoviews, not modern reproductions.
A genuinely cool little group spanning New York, Yosemite and the Grand Canyon, from two of the major American stereographic publishers.
You will receive all four cards pictured.
No stereoscope included.
Because of course I don't have one.
