Confirmed by its impressed factory backstamp to have been manufactured in May 1884, this historic piece features Wedgwood\'s legendary matte, unglazed pale blue Jasperware stoneware body. The lid is adorned with a crisp, beautifully detailed white bas-relief overlay depicting two classical lovebirds perched facing one another on a flowering branch, elegantly framed by sprigged white floral garlands. Its geometric 8-sided octagon design gives it a striking architectural presence. This 140+ year-old antique is in outstanding, museum-quality vintage condition.
