Antique Wooden Conestoga Wagon Wheel Hub Axle Grease Box Pot Hand Wrought Iron: $96.68
Being offered is an antique, primitive, wagon wheel grease box or container. These were used to store grease, usually rendered from an animal, to be used on wagon wheel hubs or axles. The box is crafted from a solid piece of walnut wood with a hand wrought iron bale which was used to hand the box from the bottom of a wagon. These typically were used on Conestoga or western travel wagons that were on the road. This box does show age and wearing typical for its use as this was not made to be a souvenir or decor. The box looks intact and is approx. 9 5/8" wide front view by 2 7/8" side view and 3 5/8" tall not including the bale. The bale is approx. 9 1/4" long by 3 5/8" tall.I am not sure how to grade something like this so have takenclose-up pics to help assess the item’s condition, what you see is what youget.
