Carte de Visite CDV Bust Portrait of Handsome Young Man - Philadelphia Backmark: $25.00
Description: For sale is a CDV portrait of an unidentified handsome young man. The portrait is a vignette bust portrait and almost looks like a copy of a daguerreotype to my eye (although I have no proof to verify that, just a thought). The light-haired man sports an asymmetrical cravat (bow tie), which was very common and popular among young men during that decade. The CDV dates to the 1860s, but again, if this is a copy of a daguerreotype, then it would be a copy of an image from the 1850s most likely. Photographer backmark for Wenderoth & Taylor of Philadelphia, two partners who succeeded Samuel Broadbent, a famous early Philadelphia photographer who had studios around the country, North and South, before the Civil War. Condition: Good. Some spots and foxing on the portrait, but overall in good condition. Thank you for viewing this listing and please reach out if you have any questions.
