Castello Sea Rock Briar Estate Pipe – Made in Italy – Reg. No. 6617
Classic Castello Sea Rock Briar estate pipe crafted in Italy in a timeless straight billiard form. The tall cylindrical bowl, balanced proportions and original hand-cut vulcanite stem create a comfortable, refined pipe representative of one of Italy's most celebrated makers.
The signature Sea Rock Briar finish features Castello's iconic deeply rusticated texture, providing excellent grip while showcasing the natural character of the briar. A smooth polished shank panel displays the nomenclature, including the early Reg. No. 6617 stamping. The pipe retains its original vulcanite stem and exhibits the quality engineering and craftsmanship for which Castello has long been recognized.
Founded by Carlo Scotti in 1947, Castello is regarded as one of the world's premier pipe manufacturers and helped establish Italy as a leader in artisan pipe making. Early Sea Rock Briar examples remain highly sought after by collectors for their distinctive rustication, smoking qualities and enduring craftsmanship.
This pipe came from the estate of a longtime Chicago pipe enthusiast who carefully maintained his smoking collection. The chamber retains a thin, even carbon cake of approximately 1/16 to 1/8 inch. The rim shows moderate darkening and normal evidence of use. The original vulcanite stem has light oxidation, surface wear and minor tooth wear near the button consistent with age and use.
