Civil War Era CDV – \"Gen. John Morgan, C.S.A.\"

JOHN MORGAN, C.S.A.\" is printed below the image inside a triple-rule border, and the mount has period clipped corners. Blank back, no photographer imprint.
Morgan was the \"Thunderbolt of the Confederacy.\" He led raids through Kentucky, Tennessee, Indiana and Ohio, including the 1863 Great Raid north of the Ohio River. He escaped from the Ohio Penitentiary and was killed at Greeneville, Tenn., in September 1864. Northern publishers issued portraits of well-known Confederates like this one to meet public demand during the war.
