WWI era pins issued by the Daughters of the American Revolution during their fundraiser campaign to fight the shortage of chickens in France during the period of the 1914/1918 Great War.
The Whitehead and Hoag Co. produced the pins in Newark, NJ.
The red, white and blue pin says: "I have a chicken in France" - Each dime collected provided for one egg and each quarter provided for one chicken.
PS: This is an original pin from the original fundraiser and not a commemorative pin. I obtain them at an estate sale many, many years ago. The lady who owned them was the actual person in charge of the fundraiser, and those pins were the left over from that event.
The pins are in pretty good condition with the normal wear for their age. Some have a some light rust on the back, others have light foxing on the back cardboard. The front design is good on all of them.
