Original 1916 WWI German Carl Zeiss Jena Fernglas 08 Binoculars & Original Case: $265.00
The product is a pair of original 1916 WWI German Carl Zeiss Jena Fernglas 08 binoculars, complete with their original case. These binoculars were used during World War I and are a rare collectible piece of militaria from Germany. The Carl Zeiss Jena brand is well-known for producing high-quality optics, making these binoculars not only historically significant but also valuable for collectors interested in military memorabilia from the World War I era.The serial number is 37673, indicating these were produced in 1916 (30,000-40,000 were produced during that year). That puts them right in the middle of World War I, where they were likely used on the battlefield. The original instructions, or “Gebrauchsanwwisung” are fixed inside the lid of the leather case.PLEASE SEE ALL PHOTOS: The case itself has seen the most wear and deterioration, with the leather side securing straps mostly gone. The leather case also emits a fairly strong odor, which is very common for items such as this. I will be happy to place them in a sealed bag for shipping. The binoculars are actually Galilean-style field glasses that do not so much magnify as accentuate and distinguish the objective. The outer shell of the binoculars is textured for gripping and the case still has the 2 leather belt straps for wearing on the soldier’s person.
