Late 1950s Volkswagen Beetle Type 1 Bug — a must-have for VW collectors and air-cooled Volkswagen enthusiasts. This original vintage black and white snapshot photograph puts a classic late-1950s VW Bug front and center: round headlights, the VW roundel emblem on the hood, a blade bumper with vertical overriders, and the one-piece curved windshield of the 1953-and-later Beetles. The iconic air-cooled Type 1 is shown in a front three-quarter view, dominating the right side of the image.
Four friends — Abbie, Dee, Vera and Ted, their names handwritten in blue ink on the back of the photo — pose in a residential driveway beside the Beetle, with an older pickup truck and a house with carport behind them. Their 1960s clothing (sleeveless tops, shorts, capri pants) captures the casual Americana of the era.
A wonderful example of vernacular photography and found-photo Americana: an original black-and-white snapshot, not a reprint. Perfect for Volkswagen collectors, VW Bug memorabilia displays, automobilia collections, or vintage photography collectors.
The back of the photo is inscribed in blue ink, transcribed exactly:Abbie / Dee / Vera / Ted
Date and location are undocumented — the back bears only the names above. The late-1950s Volkswagen Beetle anchors the era of this image.
Measures 3 1/2 x 3 inches. Original vintage photograph on paper. Condition: Used, as shown — please review all photos (front and back) carefully.
