Rare Antique Greyhound/Whippet Silver Plated Derby Inkwell:
$275.00

A lovely silver plated inkwell marked Derby Silver Co. Patented Sept. 6 1887. The tray measures 6 inches in diameter and the dog is 3 1/2” long by 3” high. It has a folded scalloped edge and a footed bottom. The dog wears a sashed collar which was popular in that time period I believe. The silver plate looks to be in very good condition but I have not tried to polish it as some people prefer patina. The crystal inkwell has a brass collar and hinge works well. There are some small flea bite chips to bottom edge of collar not significant or noticeable. This is a wonderful and seldom seen inkwell.
