“The War Begins” launches Marvel\'s landmark 12-issue Secret Wars limited series. Earth\'s greatest heroes and most dangerous villains are mysteriously transported aboard separate spacecraft and brought together by the enigmatic Beyonder.
The heroes and villains witness the destruction of a galaxy and the creation of Battleworld, a massive artificial planet assembled by the Beyonder. He gives them a simple challenge: defeat their enemies and their greatest desires will be fulfilled.
The issue features an extraordinary lineup including Spider-Man, Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Wolverine, Storm, Cyclops, Rogue, Colossus, Professor X, the Fantastic Four, She-Hulk, Magneto, Doctor Doom, Galactus, Ultron, Molecule Man, Kang, and others.
Doctor Doom immediately recognizes that the Beyonder represents an opportunity for unimaginable power and attempts to confront him, while tensions quickly develop between the assembled heroes and villains. The issue ends with the two sides preparing for the conflict that will define the series.
