Set 2 VNTG Heavy Hand-cast Plaster Architectural Relief Plaques Acanthus Foliage: $88.00
Set of 2 vintage heavy hand-cast plaster relief plaques with deeply curled acanthus scrolls, stylized flower heads, curled buds and seed pods elongated leaves executed in fairly deep relief. Stylistically it draws from Baroque/Rococo and Renaissance-derived architectural ornament. Hand- cast in fiber reinforced plaster and each plaque has a wire loop incorporated into the back. Can be displayed separately or together and be treated as "art object", collectible architectural fragment rather than wall decor, maybe with a picture light to cast longer shadows across the relief, emphasizing the depth of the carving. This is very much the type of display seen in contemporary European-modern interiors, adding a touch of history and elegance with historic architectural plaster cast unique accents. Approx 9.5" x 9.5" weight 2 lb Each. Excellent condition. Collectible.
