VTG 50s Honolulu Hawaii Embroidered Hibiscus Framed Mid Century Island MCM Retro
Featuring embroidered hibiscus flowers with “Honolulu” and “Hawaii” lettering on a neutral silk-like fabric. The floral design is worked in soft pink, cream, gold, and green thread with raised satin-stitch embroidery and decorative diagonal accents.
The original backing retains a label from The Art Shop, Honolulu, T.H., indicating the piece was sold or framed during Hawaii’s territorial period before statehood in 1959. Likely dating to the 1940s or 1950s.
Measures 18.5” x 16”
Condition: Presented in its original black wood frame with glass. The frame shows visible age-related chipping, surface wear, and losses, and the paper backing has tears and deterioration consistent with age. The embroidered textile remains visually striking and displays well.
