Vintage 1950s Asian Figurine TV Lamp Red Venetian Shade MCM Silvestri Style For Sale

BUCK’S STATEMENT:

There was a time when the television was the centerpiece of the American living room, and the lighting surrounding it was almost as entertaining as the programs on the screen. During the 1950s, decorative TV lamps became a fixture of mid-century homes, combining colorful illumination with the playful, exotic-inspired designs that defined the era. This wonderful vintage lamp captures that spirit with its striking red Venetian-style tiered shade suspended above two charming Asian-inspired figures. One sits quietly reading a book while the other plays a stringed instrument, both resting on an elaborately decorated base resembling a pair of upholstered settees. The brilliant red shade creates an atmospheric glow that makes this piece every bit as eye-catching today as it would have been in a 1950s living room.

Believed to date to the 1950s, this vintage TV/table lamp features a tiered red shade supported by a metal framework and fabric suspension straps, a central brass-tone lamp column with pull-chain switch, and two painted decorative figures. The base has an aged cream, black, and gold finish with ornate scrollwork and textured detailing. The lamp shows age-related wear throughout, including scuffs, scratches, discoloration, finish loss, and surface wear to the figures and base. The shade and its supporting hardware also show signs of age and handling. The lamp is shown illuminated in the photographs, although the electrical components have not been professionally inspected; inspection by a qualified electrician is recommended before regular use. A wonderfully distinctive survivor from the golden age of mid-century television, ideal for a vintage lighting collection, retro living room, tiki-inspired interior, or collector of unusual 1950s Americana. Please examine all photographs closely for exact condition and construction.
