Up for sale is a beautiful mid-century classic: a General Electric P780 "Eight Transistor" AM portable radio. Known by collectors as one of the best-sounding and most robust portable transistor radios of its era, this heavy-duty "lunchbox" style radio features a striking chrome front grill and analog dial
Functionality: Fully tested and working great! Tunes into AM stations with excellent sensitivity, clarity, and the rich, powerful sound these specific models are famous for. The volume, tuning, and tone dials all operate smoothly
Dial Light: The push-button dial "lite" works, but the button does not click or stay down/intact on its own. (Note: on these models, the light is designed to illuminate only while actively holding the spring-loaded button down, but the physical button housing/assembly is loose/needs attention).
Cosmetics: Overall in good vintage shape with no major cracks in the casing. The chrome face and grill look good but show minor age-appropriate wear and could use a good polish to really bring back their original high-end luster
• Power: Runs on standard D-cell batteries (batteries not included). Battery compartment is clean.
A wonderful, functional piece of nostalgic electronics history perfect for any collector or vintage audio display!
