These whimsical novelties were highly popular souvenirs from regional hot-spring (onsen) resort shops in Aomori/Asamushi during the 1960s and 1970s. Lot Includes: 1. Walnut Shell Bobblehead Turtle: Crafted using a halved Japanese Heartnut (Himekurumi) shell for the body, featuring a beautifully hand-painted \"寿\" (Kotobuki) kanji character translating to longevity/good fortune. The wooden legs and head wobble smoothly via internal spring wires. It is securely mounted on a rustic whole-walnut base to act as a paperweight or desktop display piece. 2. Walnut Shell Crab Fridge Magnet: Flipped upside down to form a red-painted shore crab (Sawa Gani). Features tiny toothpick legs, hand-painted details, and two dangling pink interior wooden claws that click-clack when moved. Comes with its original small disc magnet glued to the bottom. Condition: Both pieces are in excellent vintage condition with very light surface wear appropriate for their age. The hand-painted shell details remain sharp, and the internal spring wire balance mechanisms are intact and wobble freely. Dimensions: Approximately 1.5\" - 2\" each.
