Vintage 1992 Corn Palace Stampede Rodeo belt buckle commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Mitchell Corn Palace, 1892–1992.
The front features raised lettering reading:
CORN PALACESTAMPEDERODEO
The front also shows a detailed cowboy riding a bucking bull, with decorative gold-tone and dark antiqued accents.
The lower banner reads:
MITCHELL CORN PALACECENTENNIAL 1892–1992
The back is especially interesting for collectors. It is marked:
23rd ANNUAL RODEOLIMITED EDITIONNo. 285 of 300
Another plaque explains that the P.R.C.A. rodeo began in 1971 and that the 1992 event honored saddle bronc riders along with the 100th anniversary of the World\'s Only Corn Palace.
The back also states that buckles have been offered each year since 1979 and is marked:
1992 CORN PALACE STAMPEDE COMMITTEE
This is a numbered limited-edition vintage rodeo buckle with a very detailed Western design and an important Corn Palace anniversary connection.
The buckle comes with the presentation box shown in the photographs.
This would make a nice addition to a vintage belt buckle collection, rodeo memorabilia collection, South Dakota collection, Corn Palace collection, or Western collectible collection.
Approximate size: 4 3/4\" wide x 3 1/2\" tall.
Please consider the measurements approximate because of the buckle\'s condition with age-related wear, patina and surface marks. The information plaques on the back show age-related discoloration and wear, as visible in the photographs.
