Substantial vintage hand-painted faience or glazed earthenware tile featuring a central fruit and floral motif surrounded by a decorative blue, yellow, and ochre border. The surface has a softly speckled cream ground and visible hand-painted variation that gives the piece a traditional European folk-art character.
The tile measures approximately 8.5\" square and is unusually thick at approximately 3/4\". The reverse has deeply incised diagonal grooves consistent with an architectural tile intended for installation. The maker and country of origin are unmarked; the decoration is consistent with French/Provençal-style faience, but a specific French attribution has not been earthenware / faience ceramic
