Beautiful vintage Japanese lacquerware serving plate set featuring an unusual stylized crane / tsuru design.
Complete set of five matching plates, each formed in an elongated oval shape with a dimensional crane head at one end. Finished in a rich vermilion red with black undersides and hand-detailed cream, black and red accents.
The original fitted presentation/storage box is included. The box label appears to feature the Japanese character 鶴 (tsuru), meaning “crane.”
These individual serving dishes are similar to Japanese meimeizara plates, traditionally used for sweets, small appetizers, tea service or individual portions. They also make striking decorative display pieces.
