Original U.S. Army Signal Corps "Cabinet, Electrical Equipment," nomenclature CY-1150/U, built by Motorola Inc. under Order No. 11661-PH-52 (the "-52" dates this contract to 1952, Korean War era). This is a field/vehicular radio accessory unit housing a loudspeaker with SQUELCH and VOLUME rotary controls (each with its own OFF position), a small pilot lamp, and an internal chassis accessed via four heavy-duty spring latches on the lid. Olive-drab wrinkle-finish steel case with a fold-down carry handle, rubber-corded multi-pin connector on one end, and the original data plate intact and legible, including Serial No. 406.
This style of control/speaker box was used with Signal Corps FM radio sets of the early-1950s vehicular and fixed-station families as a remote loudspeaker and audio control point. Cosmetically it shows honest service wear — scuffed paint, some edge wear on the case, oxidation on the hardware — but the data plate, knobs, speaker grille, latches, and connector all appear complete and intact.
Condition disclosure: untested electrically. Selling as a complete, displayable piece of Korean War-era U.S. Signal Corps communications equipment for the collector or restorer.
