The History of Creative House Chicago
Founded in 1964 under the official name Creative House Productions Inc., this company was a dedicated design and manufacturing firm based entirely out of Chicago, Illinois.
The Gumball Era: Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, Creative House became highly successful by mass-producing the humorous, satirical, and pop-culture "comic pinbacks" that kids bought out of vending/gumball machines and found inside Cracker Jack boxes.
The "Bugs" Backdrop: The specific "Beattles Are Bugs" phrase on your pin was a satirical nod to the American press and media giants (like Ed Sullivan and Walter Cronkite), who frequently and sometimes mockingly nicknamed the band "the British bugs" or "the golden bugs" during the height of 1960s Beatlemania.
The Digital Legacy: In the late 1990s, Creative House launched PinMart, which made history as the very first e-commerce website dedicated exclusively to selling lapel pins. PinMart eventually grew so massive that it bought out its original parent company, Creative House, in 2008.
