WW2 German M40 Stahlhelm Helmet ET62 with Partial Liner For Sale

German M40 helmet, marked ET62 - anuncommon small shell size 62. The rear interior is stamped with lot number 797. This helmet has been in my personal collection for 20+ years, which I purchased from a militaria dealer in Washington.

The exterior appears to retain its original Luftwaffe blue-gray finish, which has darkened considerably over time, giving it a very dark charcoal-gray appearance, with a single decal. The surface shows age-related oxidation, scratches, scuffs, and general wear consistent with its age. Some white coating remains around the liner rivets and in portions of the helmet\'s exterior, particularly on the left side. These remnants may be traces of an earlier surface coating, possibly a winter camouflage whitewash that was subsequently removed, although their exact origin is unknown. The underlying finish around the rivets appears consistent with the surrounding helmet surface. The rivets remain firmly attached with no indications of replacement. The interior retains its metal liner band and portions of the leather liner, which shows considerable age-related wear and loss.

Please review all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the description and show the helmet\'s overall condition, markings, finish, and remaining components. The helmet is offered as shown.
