Original World War II US M1943 folding entrenching tool with its original M1943 canvas carrier.
The blade is clearly stamped \"US / WOOD / 1944\" (see close-up photo) — a genuine wartime-dated tool, not a postwar or reproduction piece. This is the classic M1943 pattern: folding steel blade, locking collar, and turned wooden handle, carried in the canvas M1943 carrier marked \"U.S.\" with its belt hooks and lift-the-dot closure.
Condition — honest, as-found:- Blade: surface rust and patina with finish loss, consistent with age and use. No cracks or bends seen; edges show normal wear.- Handle: solid wood with heavy paint/finish wear, no cracks seen.- Hinge and locking collar: present and complete.- Carrier: original canvas, \"U.S.\" marked, stitching intact overall with staining, soiling, and light fraying at the edges (see photos). Snap and belt hooks are present.
