Bambi Animal Reference Portfolio (Walt Disney, 1938). To prepare for the task of animating the forest animals in Bambi, a portfolio was assembled as a reference early on in the film making process.This 24-page \"Animal Sketch Book\" in a faux leather binder is marked \"Copy #30\". A notice on the inside front cover reads: \"This animal sketchbook is the property of the Disney Studio and is loaned to you for your personal use only. Please do not lend it out to others inside and outside of the studio.\" Given that information, it\'s likely few of these ever made it out of the studio.This particular copy belonged to artist/animator Lars Calonius. This very rare document highlights the level of detail the Walt Disney Studio strove for in making Bambi.The front cover and a section of the spine are detached from the binder. The pages show light wear and age toning. Condition for this 80-year-old relic of the early days of feature animation is Good.
