Vintage Zippo lighter with a case dating from 1937 to 1949, identified by the early patent‑number bottom stamp and the original five‑barrel hinge used only before 1950. The lighter was recently returned from the Zippo repair service and now has a new factory insert installed. The original insert was returned and it is included. The case shows age and wear consistent with an early post‑patent Zippo. Included is a vintage Zippo box and guarantee paperwork dating to the late 1950s. The striped mid‑century box is not original to the lighter but makes an excellent period display companion.
The lighter opens and closes smoothly, and the new insert functions properly. A solid example of an early pre‑1950 Zippo with authentic mid‑century packaging, ideal for collectors of early hinge‑style Zippos and classic smoking memorabilia.
This Zippo lighter was repaired at the Zippo Factory Repair Clinic. It was returned to us with the Zippo Repair Clinic sticker seals, which were temporarily removed for photography. They have been re-attached for authenticity. No attempts to clean this item have been made by us. The photos are a true and accurate representation of its current condition. This will make a great addition to any collection.
