West Lake Park, North Shore,\" this albumen photograph shows the north shore of the lake at West Lake Park in Los Angeles — the park now known as MacArthur Park. Developed in the 1880s around a natural lake, West Lake Park was one of Victorian Los Angeles\'s premier pleasure grounds, with boating, a rustic bridge, and landscaped gardens; it was renamed MacArthur Park in 1942 for General Douglas MacArthur. The reverse bears printed text about Southern California (from the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce): \"Published by Pierce & McConnell, Headquarters for Mounted and Unmounted Views, 515 North Main St., Los Angeles, Cal.\"
