This is an authentic antique pure silk, hand embroidered Japanese Uchikake Wedding Kimono and it is stunning!
It is an eye catching combination of white, red and purple 100% silk with intricately detailed embroidered cranes using gold wrapped thread! Red flowers are accented with gold thread too. For the backdrop, the artist created a flowing watercolor design of branches, perfect for the cranes to alight on.

The \"outer robe\" or uchikake was originally worn by high-ranking samurai women, but was used as wedding attire soon after. The term uchikake refers to the outer layer of a lady\'s traditional wedding kimono. It usually has bright red or white for the color palette; which symbolizes rebirth as a bride. The color purple was commonly associated with royalty or nobility. It could also represent wisdom and spirituality. The cranes and flowers are symbolic of long life, endurance and happiness. Something every young bride needs for a long and successful union.
