Scarce 32mo-size (approx. 4½” tall × 2½” wide × 1½” thick) King James Version, printed by S. Andrus & Son (Hartford) in 1844.
This decorative pocket Bible features embossed leather boards, a gilt spine title BIBLE, and a separate New Testament title page also dated 1844. Includes several steel-engraved Biblical scenes, including the Crucifixion.
Condition: Fair / Acceptable
• Front cover is fully detached from spine and text block.
• First few pages, including title page, are loose but present.
• Binding is split with visible stitching and exposed cords.
• Leather covers show heavy rubbing, edge loss, and rounded corners.
• Spine leather worn, but gilt title remains legible.
• Text block is intact and readable, with heavy age toning, scattered foxing, and occasional edge tears.
• Plates exhibit typical foxing and offsetting.
• Pencil inscriptions and doodles on endpapers (one dated 1863).
• Sold as found — no repairs. Fragile and should be handled with care.
