Company history

The Stranahan Land and Live Stock Company was a family-held agribusiness entity based out of Chouteau County, Montana.

The family lineage: The company was founded by Benjamin F. Stranahan (B.F. Stranahan), an early Montana pioneer who settled in the Fort Benton area. By 1922, the corporation was run by family members, as evidenced by the signatures on this certificate: Ella G. Stranahan served as President, and C. G. Stranahan signed as Secretary.

Capitalization and structure: The certificate details a total capital stock of $50,000.00. This specific document represents Certificate No. 4, issued for a single ONE share valued at $100.00. Concentrated, low-numbered certificates like this are classic markers of a closely held family estate rather than a publicly traded venture.

Corporate purpose: The enterprise was formed to manage the family\'s agricultural holdings, cattle herds, and ranching operations. The beautiful central vignette—produced by the Goes Lithographing Company of Chicago—depicts a prosperous 1920s dairy and beef farm, complete with a modern silo, barns, a manufacturing facility, and high-quality livestock, reflecting the agricultural aspirations of the era.
