1904 Antique French Postcard - Nice Flower Market, Opéra - Giletta
Original Belle Époque French postcard showing the bustling Marché aux Fleurs (Flower Market) outside the Opéra de Nice on the French Riviera.
An evocative early street scene featuring several women flower vendors surrounded by large baskets of flowers, pedestrians in period clothing, shopfronts, balconies, and the ornate façade of the opera house.
Published by Édition Giletta, Nice, postcard number 116, with the printed caption “NICE - Marché aux Fleurs - Façade de l’Opéra.”
The postcard is handwritten and dated February 9, 1904, with the affectionate French greeting “Un baiser de loin” (a kiss from afar).
The undivided reverse retains its original green French 5-centime postage stamp and Nice postal cancellation. Addressed to Monsieur André Caille at 79 Rue de l’Hôpital Militaire, Lille, Nord, France.
