Meyercord Decalcomania Chicago Lake Street Plant 1907 Fire Destruction Antique Original Photos (2)
The Meyercord Company on West Lake Street in Chicago suffered a devastating fire and what appears to be a total loss in August 1907. A newspaper reported that this was caused by \"spontaneous combustion.\"
These two photos display the aftermath of the fire. On the front of the building, you can read, \"Decalcomania Transfers\" and \"Window Advertising Signs.\"
On the back of one of the photos, there is handwriting in ink, which reads: \"Meyercord Co Fire 1906.\" The handwritten year is incorrect.
Photos measure approximately 7\" x 9\".
Photos are in antique condition with surface scratches, marks, edge chipping, edge cracking, dings to the edges and corners, staining, discoloration and marks. The photo that has writing on the back side, also has a line drawn on it.
