Up for sale is an incredibly rare, historically significant piece of Texas history: an original 1909 town founding ("inception") celluloid stick pinback for Jourdanton, Texas.
Jourdanton was officially founded in September 1909 as a vital South Texas railroad hub on the Artesian Belt Railroad. This pin was produced as a promotional souvenir during the town's initial founding boom and land lot sales.

- Subject: Features a gorgeous, vibrant Edwardian "Gibson Girl" profile portrait with pink flowers in her hair.
- Manufacturer: Maker-stamped along the bottom rim: "Copyright 1908 The Meek Co., Coshocton, O." The Meek Co. is legendary among antique lithograph and advertising collectors for their high-quality celluloid work.
- Dimensions: Measures approximately 2.25 inches in total length; the celluloid button head is approximately 0.75 inches in diameter.
- Rarity: Exceptionally scarce. Because Jourdanton was a tiny farming and rail community of only a few hundred people at its inception, very few of these promotional pins were ever made, and fewer still have survived.
Condition Report:
This pin is in great antique condition with incredible eye appeal. The celluloid face remains bright, glossy, and has very minor faint foxing along the top edge that is typical for this era. The metal stick pin on the back is straight and securely attached.
Please note: Under close macro inspection and specific lighting angles, there are a few of minor surface divots/dings and minor hairline surface scratches (visible in the macro close-up photos). These flaws are mostly only visible when holding pin at certain angles and do not detract from the beautiful aesthetics the the piece.
