Up for sale is a tight, historically rich grouping of five (5) original silver gelatin vernacular photographs documenting a single Brooklyn soldier named "Charlie" during the 1916 Mexican Border Mobilization and the subsequent 1917 WWI buildup. 

This self-contained archive tracks Charlie's progression from an enlisted guardsman with the 14th New York Infantry stationed at Camp B along the Rio Grande to a commissioned officer in the 47th New York Infantry following America's entry into World War I. Every photo features clear, period ink handwriting on the margin or mount detailing exact dates, locations, and unit assignments.


14th Infantry Field Lineup – Mission, Texas (July 6, 1916)

Inscription: "Charlie - Mission, Texas with 14th Reg. July 6, 1916 Camp B." 


Content: Excellent field view of troops lined up in full campaign gear, cartridge belts, and slouch hats at Camp B near the Rio Grande.
