Original 1917–1921 handwritten minute book from Jeremiah Lodge No. 1144, Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF), Hazleton, Pennsylvania.
Approximately 300 pages of period lodge records documenting the activities and business of the organization during the World War I and immediate postwar era. The volume contains extensive handwritten meeting minutes and provides a detailed contemporary record of the lodge, its members, officers, proceedings and activities.
An excellent piece of Pennsylvania fraternal history and Hazleton/Luzerne County local history, with potential genealogical interest due to the many individuals named throughout the records.
The volume spans 1917 through 1921, an especially interesting period encompassing the United States\' involvement in World War I, the 1918 influenza pandemic, and the early postwar years. [I would NOT claim that the minutes specifically discuss those events unless you\'ve seen them mentioned—we\'re just establishing the historical period.]
Approximately 300 pages. Handwritten throughout.
Please review photographs carefully for contents and condition. Antique ledger/minute book shows expected age and use consistent with a working lodge record more than a century old.
A substantial original archival record from Jeremiah Lodge No. 1144 of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows in Hazleton, Pennsylvania, and a wonderful research piece for collectors of IOOF memorabilia, Pennsylvania history, genealogy, fraternal organizations and early 20th-century social history.
