If you\'re an uncompromising collector of antique technology, make sure to check out all my listings after you look at this one. I don\'t think you\'ll find a better, broader or more balanced assortment of technical antiques anywhere -- hundreds of listings each year, almost all of them featuring eye-popping \"gee whiz\" gadgetry in exceptional original condition. And don\'t forget, you can click this link to quickly add and then save me to your favorite seller list and will automatically send you updates when I put similar new listings online.
Here\'s a 1924 Atwater Kent Model L horn loudspeaker. Just 19\" tall (with a 14\" diameter bell), it was one of the smallest horn speakers the company made, and it\'s among the most uncommon. Its short stature makes it an ideal mate for any Atwater Kent breadboard radio.
As you can see in the photographs, condition is excellent, just about mint. Original textured chocolate paint is clean, with virtually no wear evident.
Beautiful original AK metal tag inside the bell. No dings or dents anywhere.
The original AK driver is intact and clean, and the bakelite tone adjustment wheel turns easily. The driver coils test good, the driver clicks when 6 volts are applied to the pin tips. The rubber gasket between the coils and the diaphragm has become brittle over time, however, and the speaker\'s output is low. I\'m reasonably sure that gasket replacements are available (or can be made), but I don\'t have another one on hand or I\'d replace it myself.

I\'m one of \'s best known, most highly regarded sellers of antique radios, and I specialize in radios and radio-related items from the 1920\'s. I\'ve been selling and shipping them for more than 25 years. When you purchase an item from me, you can rest assured that it will arrive safely because it\'s been carefully packed (by me, not by some well-intentioned but nonetheless confounded, doe-eyed teenager working at the UPS store who wouldn\'t know a radio from a radiator), Sure, you can probably get a lower price from Joe and Janet Barn-Find, but when your \"bargain\" arrives broken, and without any hint of how you might be able to put it back together, you\'ll realize that you really do get exactly what you pay for.
