SCARCE!!! Set of (3) 1930s Anderson National Bank sponsored QUARTET competition award pins, with one of the pins specifically awarded declamatory over the age of 10, one from 1936 and one from 1933. The pins come in an original presentation box by Brunk Jewelers of Lawrenceburg, KY, and include the 1936 Anderson National Bank presentation card holding the pins. This a very unique, and rare, collectible piece of historical memorabilia from the Great Depression era and the Southern U.S.
The \"declamatory over age 10\" pin may refer to age restrictions in music competitions particularly related to Southern/ Appalachian \"QUARTET styles such as gospel, spiritual and folk\". Likely a local competiton guideline for youth vocal groups noting when their voices were considered developed enough for \"declamatory\" parts; more expressive and/or solo like parts.
The Anderson National Bank was established in 1904 with a buy out and changes occurring in the 1990s subsequent to their move to Lexington KY.
Acquired from a Louisville KY estate. Condition: Pin backs in perfect working condition. Plate loss in areas most touched, surface scratches and discoloration in areas. Presentation box in very good condition. Pinback card hold has tear and creases.
