1945 Original Press Photo by ACME.Marines trap Shuri defenders.American 10th Army forces closed two pincers around the fortified city of Shuri, on Okinawa, that may have trapped thousands of enemy troops holed up within the ancient city.
Marines of the 6th Division pushing southeast toward the mouth of the Kakuba River were less than 2,000 yards from the 7th Infantry Forces slashing across Okinawa from the east coast.
